FOOTBALL: Southern Utah University's Brian Kofoed and Matt Roan have been named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-Distict VIII team. Kofoed, a senior cornerback from Salt Lake City (Cottonwood High School), is a four-year starter for the Thunderbirds who carries a 3.57 GPA in marketing. Roan, a junior center from Dublin, Va. (Pulaski County High School), has a 3.90 GPA in political science.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Southern Utah women's basketball coach Steve Hodson announced Friday the signing of four players to natonal letters of intent. Two are Utah all-state prep athletes: Jamie Sagers, a 6-5 senior post player at Orem High School, and Caitlyn Sears, a 5-11 senior guard/forward from Cedar Hills' Lone Peak High School. SUU also signed Kaila Goff, a 5-7 senior guard from Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nev., and Challis Pascucci, a 6-3 senior forward Agua Fria High School in Goodyear, Ariz.
