Utah State

VOLLEYBALL: Utah State's women's volleyball team will have an Aggie Appreciation Day today when it plays Nevada at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in its last home match of the season. As a part of Aggie Appreciation Day, admission to the match is free.

BASKETBALL: Utah State will host NCAA Division II Mesa State in women's basketball exhibition action Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Admission is free.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: University of Utah women's basketball coach Elaine Elliott has announced the signing of Cydney Knight (Pasco, Wash.) to a national letter-of-intent. Knight is currently a senior at Pasco High School and will join the Utes next season. Knight is a 6-foot 1-inch forward. She lived in Richland, Wash., and played for Richland High last year as a junior. She was voted a "Super Six" player in the Big 9 Conference and ranked fifth in the league in scoring. Knight was also a standout cross country athlete at Richland, earning all-league and all-area recognition.

Brigham Young

VOLLEYBALL: BYU middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock was honored this week for her success both on the court and in the classroom as she was named to the CoSIDA Academic District VIII First Team.

Utah Valley State

VOLLEYBALL: Utah Valley State setter Lacee Koelliker was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VIII Volleyball Second Team on Thursday. She received the honor in the University Division, which includes all Division I schools. Koelliker was voted to the team based on her academic and athletic achievements. She has 3.77 GPA with a major in elementary education and was also recently named to the D-I Independent All-Academic team. She was UVSC's scholar athlete for the month for October.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Utah Valley State women open the 2006-07 basketball season on Saturday against Division II Mesa State at 3:05 p.m. in the McKay Center. Then on Tuesday, Nov. 14, the Wolverines will host in-state foe Utah State at 7:05 p.m. in the Aggies' season opener.
