Surrendering to Comcast to watch MWC games

When I got home from Fort Collins Sunday night, I had an e-mail from a fan who railed on BYU's president and athletic director for not getting the TV situation straight.
While they may be good targets, in reality, folks, MWC presidents are victims just like the fans. They were told one thing and another transpired. You don't think they're hot? A better word could be scalded. A couple of thousand years ago, somebody really smart and wise wrote that money, or the love of money, was the root of all stupidity, moral ineptitude, corruption, cheating, lying, disharmony, unfaithfulness, broken promises, two-faced dealing and being chumps. Or something like that.
And he was right.
The CSTV/Comcast folks are "negotiating" a price with the dish companies and Cox Cable, which means counting money. No biggie, that's just business. But when they promise and don't deliver, that is non-performance and stark failure.
In the meantime, consumers like me, switch from dish to Comcast.
Hummmmm.
Live and learn. But going back and wishing isn't going to fix things.
Today's question is who exactly did the MWC marry up with and how's it going to get better? What marital counseling is needed?
Many fans wring their hands over abandoning the lower-paying ESPN contract for this CSTV deal.
True, ESPN exposure is better than nothing, but was the prancing around at midnight and almost every weekday, for fewer shekels, worth it? Plus, ESPN wanted the MWC to play games on Sunday, a calendar date BYU would never agree to. The Cougars get the best ratings in the league, so ESPN's demands were not only too cheap, but impossible.
I feel sorry for folks who can't get this coverage, especially those in Las Vegas and San Diego, two of the MWC's biggest markets. It is not fair and nobody seems to know when it will get fixed.
But in the meantime, I'm enjoying The mtn., with its quirky blemishes. Cover makeup will surely be applied soon.
Soon, I'm sure my anger over being used in all this will subside.
Too bad others don't have the choice.
