Navajo jewelry artist to display work at UVSC

OREM — Navajo jewelry artist Ray Tracy will display his work at an American Indian powwow dance competition at Utah Valley State College on Saturday.

Tracy will be among vendors selling food, arts and crafts near the dance competition in the Sorensen Student Center Grande Ballroom beginning at 11 a.m. Entry for the powwow dance competitions is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

The Native American Conference begins Friday at 9 a.m. in Room 206 of the Sorensen Student Center. Workshop topics include hoopdance, bead work and flute playing.

Students and community members are encouraged to come learn and experience Native American customs and traditions.

At 7 p.m. on Friday there will be a $50-per-plate scholarship fund-raiser dinner in Room 206 of the Sorensen Student Center.
