'Curtains' to open on Broadway
"Curtains" played to mixed reviews at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles earlier this year. The show, about a stage-struck detective investigating a murder at a Boston musical, stars David Hyde Pierce and Debra Monk and is directed by Scott Ellis.
Kander and Ebb wrote the words and music to "Cabaret" and "Chicago" (in its 11th year on Broadway). Lyricist Ebb died in 2004.
Previews for "Curtains" begin Feb. 27 at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, currently home of "The Wedding Singer," which closes at the end of the year.
The show enters a crowded season for Broadway musicals, which includes "Mary Poppins" and "Legally Blonde."
