Outdoor notes
The second part of the annual Bison Roundup will start on Friday with annual medical and physical checkups for the animals in the corrals and holding pens at the northern tip of Antelope Island.
The public is invited to view the weighing, blood-testing, inoculation and scanning of the buffalo, starting Friday and running through Sunday.
To reach the island take exit 332 off I-15, turn west and travel along Antelope Drive approximately seven miles to the entrance gate. For information call 801-580-1043.
BIG GAME MEETINGS
Rifle hunters could hunt buck deer for four extra days in southern Utah under a proposal the Division of Wildlife Resources is recommending for next fall.
And, hunters may be able take more small bull elk on four of Utah's best limited entry units in 2007.
The DWR will present recommendations at a series of public meetings in November.
SPORTSMAN PERMITS
Applications for some of next year's most prized Utah hunting permits2007 Sportsman permits were made available yesterday.
Only Utah residents may apply for Sportsman permits. One Sportsman Permit is offered for each of the following speciesdesert bighorn ram, Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep ram, buck deer, buck pronghorn, bull elk, bull moose, hunter's choice bison, hunter's choice Rocky Mountain goat, black bear, cougar, sandhill crane and wild turkey.
Hunters who have a major credit card can apply online at www.wildlife.utah.gov.
Hunters without a major credit card must mail their application, which are available from hunting and fishing license agents statewide and the DWR offices.

SNOWBIRD DELIVERS FOOD
Snowbird delivered more than two tons of food collected during the resort's annual Customer Appreciation Days to the Utah Food Bank.
Last year, 6,506 pounds of food was collected. This year the four days of the annual food-raiser generated more than two tons of non-perishable food.
In addition, $2,500 was raised for the Wasatch Adaptive Sports Program.
SNOWMOBILE PARKING PASS
Season parking passes for the Monte Cristo snowmobile trailhead are now available.
Permits cost $50. Customers purchasing passes before Dec. 31 will receive a $10 discount.
To purchase by mail, send a cashier's check or money order to Willard Bay State Park, 900 W. 650 North, Willard, UT 84340. To purchase by phone with a credit card, call 435-734-9494. Passes may also be purchased at Willard Bay State Park and at the trailhead when grooming begins.
Funds are used at the trailhead for maintenance of the parking lot and restroom facilities. This year, funds were used to place and grade 900 tons of rocks and road base.
