Changes in the voter-registration process have the League of Women Voters of Salt Lake pushing to get out the vote.

The organization will be advocating neighborhood registration because with recent changes, citizens must mail in registration applications at least 30 days in advance.

To help educate citizens, the League of Women Voters has partnered with the Salt Lake and Wasatch chapters of the American Association of University Women to open a democracy store at the main Salt Lake City Library from Oct. 16 through Nov. 7.

At the store, people will be able to try out a new electronic-voting machine and obtain information about candidates. Volunteers will also be on hand to help answer questions, such as where to locate polling places.

People can visit the store weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
