Voters backing all 3 initiatives

Voters will be asked to approve a quarter-cent sales-tax increase to fund corridor preservation, roads and mass-transit options such as TRAX and commuter rail. A final list of which projects that money will fund, however, has not yet been approved and won't be finalized before the county must send voter-information pamphlets to the printer.

Throughout the process of deciding what should go on the ballot, County Councilwoman Jenny Wilson warned that by asking for too much, voters could experience "ballot fatigue" and kill at least one of the measures.

But after hearing the latest poll numbers, she said, "I do have some concerns, but ultimately people can distinguish between the three propositions."

She's most worried about the transportation initiative, since little information about what taxpayers will be paying for has been finalized.

"That one is the one that in my mind could potentially cause some trouble for the others, because I think to be able to give voters a clear indication of how they will personally benefit through expanded transportation is going to be key in getting to the public and getting them interested in supporting that particular measure," Wilson said.
