For what should taxes be used?

Cyndy McMullin has an excellent point when she says, "It's not right that anyone should expect my taxes to pay for their health coverage" (Readers' Forum, Oct. 3). However, people like Julie Slack also pay taxes, which counters McMullin's argument (Readers' Forum, Sept. 24). This leads to the question: For what purposes should our taxes be used? I don't want my taxes used to fund an illegal war against a foreign country, but that complaint has branded me unpatriotic. So please, McMullin, for the sake of debate, what would you like done with your taxes?
