From Deseret News archives:
City Creek Center at a glance
A mix of retail, residential and office space, tentatively called City Creek Center, will fill the two blocks from West Temple to State Street between South Temple and 100 South, as well as the half-block from Social Hall Avenue to 100 South between State Street and 200 East. The buildings will be traversed by pedestrian walkways with gardens, fountains and a creek meant to represent City Creek.
When will it happen?
Demolition of some existing buildings will begin in November. Work is expected to take five years, with the entire project set to open in 2011.
How much will it cost?
The church has not yet announced the project's cost. But some estimates place the price tag in excess of $1 billion.
What buildings are coming down?
What retailers will be at the new project?
The development will have three department-store anchors: Macy's, Nordstrom and one more that has yet to be named. Nordstrom and Macy's will close in January and won't reopen until the rest of the project is finished. Other retailers have yet to be named.
