Rocky off saving planet again

I see Mayor Rocky Anderson is off to another gathering of climate-watchers in Alaska. I have a tax-saving suggestion for the citizens of Salt Lake City: Why spend all that tax money on paying for a mayor when he spends a majority of his time dashing off to every save-the-planet environmental conclave ever organized in the past few years? Just think what that savings in salary and added perks could do to support any agency that cares for those indigent and needy citizens in our midst.

And if the position of mayor is so desired, why not just have the elected City Council merely hold a drawing each January, and whichever of them wins gets to play mayor and perform the various ceremonial duties for the next year. Since the individual currently ensconced in that office seems to have more to do elsewhere than staying at home and tending to the needs of his constituency, why waste the money? Just a thought.
