Draper to discuss Corner Canyon

One plan for area calls for putting in a reservoir

"We could have made $35 million by developing it," he said. "We felt it was not worth the effort we had to go through. So it was sold to Draper for $13.5 million."

However, Draper City Councilman Bill Colbert said Monday, "The small issue is the water tank; the big issue is the reservoir. Even if it was favorably received, there are still quite a number of issues."

For example, the reservoir would be close to the Wasatch fault and there is concern the dam could break during an earthquake.

Another issue for Colbert, who lives just above Corner Canyon in the Traverse Ridge development, is handicap access. He wants to make sure the canyon is open to all residents, but the trails with the easiest access are at the relatively flat and shady reservoir location.

The City Council meets today at 7 p.m. in the Draper City Hall council chambers.
