WACO, Texas — Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan was recovering in the hospital after having a hysterectomy Tuesday, her spokeswoman said.

Sheehan, who has become a major voice in anti-Iraq war movement since her son was killed there in 2004, had surgery Tuesday at Providence Health Center.

She is scheduled to be in Salt Lake City next week to speak at an anti-war protest. President Bush is also scheduled to speak at the American Legion convention in Salt Lake City next week.

Sheehan spokeswoman Tiffany Burns said the laparoscopic surgery was successful and her recovery isn't expected to change her schedule.

"So she should be there next week, no problem," Burns said Wednesday.
