"There was some treatment made by the developer to try and stabilize that hillside," said Councilman Bill Colbert, who lives in SunCrest. "I want to do anything we can to make sure we don't have a loss of investment in this community."

Christensen urged the elected officials to hire an outside technical person to review geological issues, especially since they expressed concerns over the conflicted Landslide Technology and SunCrest studies.

"It's a very complicated geology and there's a lot of uncertainties involved," Christensen said. "There's a lot of complexities that need to be looked at." But, "it needs to be done."

Added Councilman Paul Edwards: "To sum it up, to develop on any landslide, irrespective of age, there is a risk involved and what the city needs to do is quantify the risks they're going to take."

Many SunCrest residents attended the meeting to educate themselves on potential threats to their homes. Resident Deron Brunson, said he is no longer nervous about a landslide.

"I feel so much better," he said of the presentation. "It made me feel safer."
