Duo arrested in $1 million theft
Nu Skin co-founder says movers took jewelry, watches and cash
Nu Skin co-founder Nedra Roney reported Tuesday night that the two movers she hired had vanished along with $15,000 in cash and several high-price items.
Police issued an "attempt-to-locate" message at 1 a.m. Wednesday, and two men, ages 31 and 26, were arrested in Jackson Hole, Wyo., at about 2:30 p.m., Utah County Sheriff's Lt. Darren Gilbert said.
The preliminary estimate of missing property was $1 million dollars, but Roney was helping officers conduct an inventory of the home, Gilbert said.
Roney is in the process of moving things from her home in Jackson Hole, Wyo., to her home in Hobble Creek Canyon east of Springville, Gilbert said.
The two men drove two white Ford Econoline vans from Wyoming to Utah County with common household items, which they were supposed to move into the garage of the Hobble Creek residence, Gilbert said.
"It is believed that these two people ... were seen in an unauthorized area of the home," he added. "They were supposed to only move (things) into the garage."
A witness saw the two men in the home, and a short time later Roney discovered the items were missing, Gilbert said.
Police believe the items reportedly stolen were already in the house and were not part of the cargo the men unloaded from the vans.
The two men were last seen at 10 p.m. Tuesday, and the call (to police) came in nearly an hour and a half later, Gilbert said.
Attempts to contact Roney on Wednesday were unsuccessful.
