Although no longer the best state government Web site, Utah.gov remains one of the best sites in the nation.

According to a study by Brown University's Taubman Center for Public Policy, Utah's state government Web site is the fifth best in the country behind Texas, New Jersey, Oregon and Michigan. Last year, Utah ranked first in the study.

The ranking were based on the presence of electronic features, such as audio or video clips, publications or online services such as license registration or tax filing. They also took into account simplicity of use and coordination among different state agencies.

Utah.gov received special attention in the study for its design, which includes a consistent navigation bar and easily allows users to move between agencies. It was also complimented for its live chat help and "succeeds by offering an impressive array of features and services to its visitors, many of them available on the state's main homepage."
