Webb: In a lay legislature, every candidate and every incumbent is going to have some conflicts. Full discussion and disclosure go a long way to negate any campaign impact.

Pignanelli: Ruminating with reporters that Satan may be personally involved against his election efforts was a PR disaster for John Jacob. If it's not fit for print, then don't say it, or at least say the magic words, "off the record."
