Outdoor notes
It will cost those anglers choosing to fish from the banks of waters within one of four Utah State Parks on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, less this summer.
Beginning July 5, anglers with a valid 365-day Utah fishing or combination license will pay only $5 for park admission. Those 62 and older will be charged only $3.
Those reservoirs include Jordanelle, Deer Creek, Rockport and East Canyon.
This discount offer will continue through the year, but it is not valid on holidays.
To take advantage of the reduced rate, anglers must show their valid 365-day fishing license upon entering the park. The day-use fee covers the license holder and up to seven passengers traveling in the same private vehicle.
The four reservoirs are among the state's most popular fishing waters. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources also plans to increase the number of fish stocked in those reservoirs over the summer.
NEW PARK RULES
The Board of Utah State Parks and Recreation met last week to review and discuss several agency-wide issues.
Lyle Gingery, Jordanelle State Park manager, was presented with the National Water Safety Congress Boating Award.
Board members also approved the following measures:
Prohibited B.A.S.E. jumping at Snow Canyon State Park. Utah State Parks staff recommended the ban due to violations of park policy regarding "stay on the trail" and potential conflicts with other user groups. B.A.S.E. jumping is now prohibited at both Dead Horse Point and Snow Canyon state parks.
Redefined rules regarding "quiet hours" to include prohibition of generators and audio devices from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. in most state parks
Formally renamed Escalante State Park to Escalante Petrified Forest State Park.
Officially named the newly designated hang gliding and paragliding site at Point of the Mountain near Draper as "Flight Park State Recreation Area."

KIDS WITH CANCER PROGRAM
Kids with cancer, and their brothers and sisters, are finishing up their annual Camp Hobe event outside of Tooele.
The Teen Week portion of the camp, for those ages 12 -19, runs through Friday in Settlement Canyon. The Kids Week portion of the camp runs through Friday, June 23.
Conservation officers with the Division of Wildlife Resources are conducted the camp's nature activities. The activities provided a chance to shoot a bow and arrow, to get "up-close and personal" with an alligator and a snapping turtle and to install houses in the nearby trees for owls.
