Sandy officials will formally present their plan for financing a soccer stadium to the Salt Lake County Council on June 27.

The city has been trying to find a way to fund a permanent home for Real Salt Lake since Mayor Peter Corroon denied the team's initial plan. Corroon said he sifted through nearly 20 funding options but said none of them was an appropriate use of tax dollars.

Now the city says it has found a way to satisfy Corroon's demands.

Real needs $45 million in public dollars to help finance construction costs for the stadium and wants the county to chip in $35 million to $41 million in hotel room tax dollars.

Randy Sant, Sandy's economic development director, said this week that Sandy officials hope they can bridge the gap between the time Real needs public funding and the year hotel-tax revenue is available again.
