Woman is back in jail after SUV incident
Brenda Christine White, 30, originally was arrested April 26 after being accused of trying to run down her estranged husband, John White, in a parking lot in front of the Woodland Towers, 4021 S. 700 East.
Video showed Brenda White's vehicle crashing through glass doors on one end of the building and through a wall on the other side in pursuit of her husband as he entered the building. The incident was caught on the building's surveillance camera and was seen on many national TV news programs.
The two, who are getting a divorce, were reportedly seen arguing in the parking lot earlier in the day.
John White suffered a leg injury in the incident.
Brenda White was charged in 3rd District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony, and criminal mischief, a second-degree felony. She was released from the Salt Lake County Jail after posting $500,000 bail.
Shortly after the incident, her husband filed for a protective order against his wife. The protective order applied to John White and also the couple's two children.
Sunday just after 12:30 p.m., a woman, believed to be Brenda White, called a house in the Sandy area where one of the White children was staying, said Salt Lake County Sheriff's Sgt. Paul Jaroscak.
Someone else answered the phone and would not allow the woman to speak to the child, Jaroscak said. After the phone conversation ended, the person who answered the phone called the sheriff's office.
Trying to make contact with her children would be a violation of the protective order against Brenda White.
White was arrested and booked back into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of violating a protective order, Jaroscak said.
White was denied bail pending her first court appearance. She is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. today on the attempted murder charge.
