In Acapulco, where he drove a public transit bus, "I earned only $25 a week," he says. "Try to feed your family on that."

He and Ana have spent five years looking over their shoulders, but now, they're tired of hiding.

"Every time we saw a police car, we were afraid of being sent back," says Ana, who now works at a travel agency and lives with a friend who helps care for the girls. "We don't want to live like that anymore."

Although they miss their parents and siblings in Mexico, "Utah feels like home now," she says. "If they kicked us out, we would come back."

Jose reaches over and squeezes her hand. "If we are granted amnesty, everybody will flood the border — we'll all go home to Mexico to see our families for a while," he says.

And then what? Jose's eyes twinkle. "After that," he says, "we're going to Disneyland."
