PROVO — Information about oil and gas leasing within Uinta National Forest will be available at a March 16 open house in Provo.

The Uinta National Forest, in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management, is preparing an environmental impact statement to determine which areas may be made available for oil and gas leasing and under what conditions and stipulations leases will be issued.

The impact statements will analyze all lands with a federally owned leasable mineral estate within the Uinta National Forest.

The open house will be held at the Uinta National Forest supervisor's office at 88 W. 100 North from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Uinta National Forest officials are seeking public comments concerning the scope of analysis for the impact statements. Comments may be submitted at the open house or by contacting Dan Dallas, acting supervisor of Uinta National Forest, at P.O. Box 1428, 88 W. 100 North, Provo. Information over the phone can be sought at 342-5100. E-mail messages can be sent to comments-intermtn-uinta@fs.fed.us.

To ensure full consideration, comments should be submitted by the end of March.
