Weber St. women wallop Portland St.
Junior Chelsey Warburton set an individual record with eight 3-pointers.
The Wildcats led from start to finish, beginning with a 3-pointer by Sara Tuomi. That was the only 3-pointer Weber State would hit that wasn't by Laura Porter or Warburton. The 'Cats led by as many as 10 points early on but Portland State cut the lead to four at 20-16 with 10:17 remaining in the first half.
The Wildcats then caught fire. Porter made three 3-pointers in less than three minutes, then it was Warburton's turn as she made three treys in just over four minutes and
Weber State led 50-31 at halftime. The 'Cats were 10-13 from 3-point land.
In the second half the Wildcats came out shooting again and Warburton made two quick threes, making her 7-7 from beyond the arc. Warburton broke the individual record and team school record on the same shot when she made her eighth 3-pointer with 8:49 to play to give Weber State a 74-47 lead. Laura Porter answered with back-to-back threes to give the Wildcats 16 on the night.
"It was just one of those games when everything was going in," she said. "We were confident heading in and it was so fun out there."
Weber State improves to 8-8 on the season and 2-1 in Big Sky action. The 'Cats will next host Eastern Washington Saturday at 7 p.m.
