Preps of the week
"He stands out because it is what he wants to do," said Workman. "He works so hard to be successful, and he is the type of kid that whatever he puts his mind to he is going to get it done."
What the senior guard has accomplished: a two-year captain and the team's leading scorer for the past two seasons. He is averaging 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists this season.
"James has been our go-to guy," Workman said. "As a team captain he has helped turn this season around."
Thompson accomplishes all of his athletic glory while maintaining a 4.0 GPA and is the top-ranked student in his class.
"She really understands teamwork," said Skyline coach Deb Bennett. "She's very kind and nice, but she's also very quick and athletic. She cuts to the basket so well, and really, she just does all of those little intangibles for us. We always have her guard the opposing team's best player. She's pretty quiet, but she's also pretty feisty. She's a tough competitor."
The honor student scored 12 points, had seven rebounds, four assists and seven steals in the team's win over Taylorsville last week.
