LDS film fest begins Wednesday
WEDNESDAY
7:30 p.m.: "Suits on the Loose," rated PG (opens in theaters Feb. 3). Premiere of a comedy about rebellious teens who escape from a juvenile-detention camp and steal two Mormon missionaries' identities to avoid recognition. Written, directed and produced by Rodney Henson, with Orlando Brown (of Disney's "That's So Raven"), $6.
THURSDAY
2 p.m.: Welcome/Discussion. Filmmaker's Welcome with festival founder and filmmaker Christian Vuissa ("Baptists at Our Barbecue"). Discussion will concern developments in the LDS film community; free.
4 p.m.: Screening: TBA
5:30 p.m.: "Salt Lake to Mesa," not rated (probable PG). Two strangers carpool to Mesa, Ariz., from Salt Lake City as the only witnesses to their respective siblings' marriage, and one also wants to see the love of his life, with whom he's lost contact; $5
9:45 p.m.: "The Saxon Chronicles," not rated (probable PG or PG-13). Set in the ninth century, the film is about England's King Alfred the Great, whose kingdom is attacked by Vikings. Preceded by the short film "Ignoble" (18 minutes), directed by Murray Triplett; $5.
FRIDAY
5:30 p.m.: "Believe," not rated (probable PG). Larry Bagby ("Walk the Line") and Britani Bateman ("Mobsters and Mormons") star in this film about a laid-off steel-mill worker who rises to fame and fortune; $5.
