According to Nixon, the 6-foot-1 Fairbanks is still adjusting to a kind of competition that she just didn't face growing up in Canada. "She's playing against some pretty big, tough kids," Nixon said. "She made some improvements from the last game, especially defensively. She hasn't defended kids like that; she's never even seen kids like that. In Raymond, Canada, they just don't grow them like that. I'm excited about Robyn."

With averages of 14.6 points and seven rebounds, Fairbanks leads the Wolverines in both categories.

They said it

"Life has just a crazy way of making a circle. We were in our same locker room — the (current) visiting locker room is the locker room that we used to have when I played here. I have great memories of BYU — I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into my time here, and I have a lot of respect for this program. . . . but I'm thrilled to be at Utah Valley now." Nixon, remembering her seven years in the BYU basketball program — four as a player, three as an assistant coach — following Saturday's loss to the Cougars. With 1,771 points, Nixon is BYU's fifth all-time leading scorer. Saturday marked the first time she has coached against her alma mater in a regular-season contest.

Freshman guard Sandy Marvin (Payson High) has scored in double figures in every Wolverine home game but has not reached double figures in any of UVSC's three road games. Saturday at BYU, she had more turnovers (four) than points (three) and shot 1-of-12 from the field.
