BOISE (AP) — Eric Lane scored 18 points and Coby Karl added 17, including three of five 3-point attempts, to lead Boise State to a 79-62 non-conference win over Utah Valley State Saturday afternoon.

Kareem Lloyd added a career-high 14 points for the Broncos and Matt Bauscher added 10, going three-for-four from beyond the 3-point line. As a team, Boise State hit 12 of its 23 3-point attempts.

Boise State never trailed and withstood a pair of Utah Valley rallies to collect the win and improve its record to 5-3.

SAC. STATE 76, SUU 68: Cal State Sacramento used a stifling defensive effort in the first half to take a 37-28 lead over Southern Utah at the break, then held off the Thunderbirds in the second half for a 76-68 non-conference win.

The Hornets held SUU to 12-of-33 shooting in the first period, including an 0-7 effort from 3-point range. Southern Utah jumped out to a 4-0 early lead but the Hornets never trailed by a larger margin. Usinga trapping full-court defense throughout the half, the Hornets forced 10 SUU turnovers. CSUS went on an 11-1 run through the middle of the period, turning a 19-18 advantage into a 30-29 lead on Chris Lange — 3-pointer with 4:20 to play before settling for the nine-point advantage at halftime.
