Utah Valley State upsets Arizona St.
Jeff Pendergraph scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds off the bench to lead the Sun Devils, who have lost two straight after winning their first four games.
Devoe's layup with 1:05 left gave the Wolverines (5-4) a 69-68 lead.
Utah Valley State took advantage of back-to-back Arizona State turnovers with Sylvester Allison hitting a 22-footer with three seconds left on the shot clock and 15 seconds left in regulation. Allison had 14 points, including 4-of-7 shooting from beyond the 3-point line.
Arizona State's Kevin Kruger missed a 3-pointer and Wolverine Chris Bailey was immediately fouled with eight seconds left.
Bailey hit 1-of-2 free throws to give Utah Valley State a 73-68 lead, capping a 10-0 spurt. Bailey added 12 points, nine assists, six rebounds and four steals for the Wolverines.
Bryson Krueger and Tyrone Jack- son each had 15 for Arizona State, which led by as much as eight in the second half and hit four straight free throws to take a 68-63 lead with 3:09 left.
Utah Valley State made 27 of 41 (66 percent) from the field, including 10 of 15 from inside the lane.
Matt Peterson added 12 points and five assists for Utah Valley State, playing just its third year as a four-year school after 30 years as a junior college. The Wolverines played its first full Division I schedule last season.
