Louis Pope started Yehu Microfinance in 2000. He and executive director Troy Holmberg volunteer their time with a staff of 40 in Kenya. Some quick facts about Yehu's operation:

Current borrowers: 4,839

Percentage who are women: 95

Average loan size: $119 (8,700 Kenyan shillings)

Repayment rate: 94 percent

Total loans: 11,500

Total funds loaned: $500,000
