AUSTIN RAUGHT, Fremont: Just a few days after he committed to play football at Weber State University, this Fremont senior made a big splash on the basketball court.

As the only returning starter from last year's 5A championship team, Raught buried a 3-pointer at the buzzer last Tuesday to lift Fremont past Lone Peak in the Hall of Fame Game.

"I have to remind myself he wasn't a senior last year," said Fremont coach Bernie Graziano about Raught, who is now a three-year starter. "He has so much experience, and really to his credit he is really unselfish."

Raught finished that Lone Peak game with 10 points on three 3-pointers. As a junior last year, Raught averaged 8.91 ppg.

HALIE SAWYER, Panguitch: This senior outside hitter set a new state record this season with her scorching hits.

She finished with a .452 hitting percentage and had 575 kills this season. She earned 1,560 kills in her career, which beats the current record by 56 kills.

"She's one of the best ball players in any classification," said coach Troy Norris. "She's so mobile for a girl who is 6-1. She's a phenomenal digger as well. She's just a complete player."

An all-state volleyball player all four years, she was also last year's 1A MVP in basketball. She has been offered scholarships in both sports, and while she still mulling over several Division I offers, she is leaning toward playing volleyball at UNLV because it's close to home.
