Davis County commissioners released a statement Friday in support of a settlement agreement involving the Legacy Parkway.

In the statement, commissioners called on Utah lawmakers to approve the settlement during a special session scheduled for Wednesday at 5 p.m. The road, they said, is important to mobility and will help reduce gridlock in Davis County.

"Your authority as lawmakers is now being called into action," the statement reads. "We recognize that you, our body of state lawmakers, are now being asked to use your collective wisdom on behalf of all local officials both city and county and the citizenry of the state. We ask you to stand together with a resolve for the improvement and protection of our quality of life."

It continues: "We ask you to join your support with ours and vote to ratify the settlement agreement for the Legacy Parkway. We are wholeheartedly in agreement to move forward and not squander this opportunity to do something really good for so many people at the same time."

The Legacy Parkway is a proposed 4-mile roadway that would run from North Salt Lake to Farmington in Davis County.
