Saratoga Springs focus is growth

Kelly also cites experience as her prime qualification. She is a real estate legal assistant with a background in investment, which she said has taught her where to look for financial help from the private sector. "Because of my investment experience, I can help form private/public partnerships that we can use to build city services while we build our tax base," she said.

Kelly said she would like to use partnership funds for city amenities such as a library and park, while assuring a stable tax base through high-quality development.

For Moss, his prime concern is to improve the way the city communicates. Internally, he said council members need to communicate better amongst themselves and make sure decisions are made in the interest of the city as a whole.

Externally, he said, city officials need to communicate better with county and state agencies to promote the interests of Saratoga Springs. "I have a good combination of government and business experience, and I feel I can bring practical experience to the council," said Moss, a former Congressional staffer.

Wilkinson said her decision to run came out of a desire to help the city reach what she calls a "bright future."

Wilkinson, who said she would focus on improving transportation and managing growth by sticking to the city's master plan, said her objectivity is her best quality."I have no business that would be affected in any way by any decision that comes before the City Council," she said. "I love this city, and I have the time to put in the effort needed to be a great council member."
