TENNIS: A Salt Lake team of women's tennis players took second place in the United States Tennis Association 3.5 National Championships in Tucson, Ariz. Team members are captain Michele Nekota, Sundi Brown, Summer Wilson, Claire Rollins, Nancy Mcnally, Annette Cottle, Jane Mangelson and Karen Nickolaisen. The team, from Coach Mike's Tennis Academy, last year placed 2nd place in the 23.0 Women's National Championships.

TREE PERMITS: Looking for a great way to launch the Holiday season? Soldier Hollow is hosting a Christmas tree festival and holiday show Nov. 4-5. The forest service will be selling tree tags daily. The tree tags will be available each day at 9 a.m. for $10 each.

Hundreds of giveaways, including free cross country skiing, tubing, and snowshoeing will be given away. There will also be live entertainment, Christmas items for sale, and breakfast and hot drinks.

SKI SALE: Excellent cross country ski packages at great prices (including skis, boots, poles and bindings) will be available at the Soldier Hollow Pre Winter Ski Sale on Nov. 4-5.

With complete packages starting as low as $75 for a used adult package and $50 for a used junior package, there is no better way to get started in the sport of cross country skiing. The sale will be held at the Lodge at Soldier Hollow in Midway on Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
