Later, a district secretary testified, the minutes were changed to omit those comments. She said she was instructed to go back and delete any mention of rumor and hearsay from minutes as far back as 1994.
In his closing argument, Gibbs pointed out Thorne has a doctorate in education and urged the jury to give Thorne more credit than to think he would conduct a "witch hunt" against Jensen.
Pointing to district documents, Gibbs said that in the past, Thorne had recommended hiring more women candidates than men and that he had knowingly hired non-LDS staff.
Strindberg countered that neither the school's principal nor district officials ever talked to Jensen about test scores. He said test scores were not brought up until Jensen filed a complaint against the district with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Jensen was seeking $83,547 in lost wages plus compensatory damages of three years' salary for her suffering and unspecified punitive damages against Thorne. Jurors declined to comment after the verdict.
