DRAPER — Demons, witches, a dairy cow, Darth Vader, Spider-Man, ladybugs and other Halloween things overran the Draper Historic Park recently when children and some parents dressed up for Draper's Fall Festival.

Val Bunting, who was known as "Val the Witch" around the park, came dressed in black pointy hat, orange and black socks and green makeup. She handed taffy out to everyone, posed for pictures and led the children on two parades around the park.

"Anybody who wants to can get their picture taken with a witch," Bunting said. "And they won't even get cursed."

An estimated 150 people showed up for the festivities, which included Native American dances, a miniature horse show and a silent auction

After the Native American dancing, it started to rain and some of the events were canceled, including the pie-eating contest and a barbershop quartet.

But the silent auction, which is the main fund-raising event for the Sorensen Home Museum, raised about $800.

Funding for the festival came from the Draper Community Foundation, which sponsors a community event in Draper for each season, according to its Web site.
