CENTERVILLE — After years of controversy and delay, the Centerville Planning Commission gave approval this week to a final site plan and subdivision plat for a Wal-Mart Supercenter in the city.

The plans call for additional landscaping, with more trees and shrubs. A buffer would also be built between the store and adjoining homes.

Residents are still fighting the approval, saying the city has not done enough to mitigate future traffic increases from the store. Next month, the Centerville City Council is expected to either approve or reject the Planning Commission's recommendation on the subdivision plat.
