EAGLE MOUNTAIN — Residents of Eagle Mountain are by and large happy and comfortable in the town that has one of the highest growth rates in the state.

A recent survey of 409 residents, conducted by Dan Jones & Associates, found that 85 percent of respondents rated the town as a good or excellent place to live. Residents also expressed widespread approval of the city's law enforcement, as 97 percent said they felt safe in the community.

The poll has a margin of error of +/- 5 percent.

Eagle Mountain has seen more than its share of political controversy in recent years, much of it centered around former mayor Kelvin Bailey's faked kidnapping incident in 2003. However, 60 percent of residents said they believe the town's image has improved in the last three years.

City administrator Chris Hillman said the survey revealed public dissatisfaction in two areas — snow removal and animal control — but the city has addressed those issues by purchasing an additional snow plow and hiring an animal control officer.
