1960 World Series at a glance

Game 1 — Pirates 6, Yankees 4: At Pittsburgh's Forbes Field, Vern Law picks up the opening-game victory, going seven innings and allowing two runs.

Game 2 — Yankees 16, Pirates 3: At Forbes Field, New York clubs 19 hits — including a pair of Mickey Mantle homers — off six Pittsburgh pitchers to rout the Pirates and tie the Series.

Game 3 — Yankees 10, Pirates 0: At Yankee Stadium, Whitey Ford logs a complete-game, four-hit shutout as the Yankees post double-digit runs and hits off a half-dozen Pirate pitchers for the second straight game.

Game 4 — Pirates 3, Yankees 2: At Yankee Stadium, Law helps himself in his second Series victory, driving in one run with a two-out double and later scoring himself in Pittsburgh's three-run fifth inning.

Game 5 — Pirates 5, Yankees 2: At Yankee Stadium, Bill Mazeroski's double keys Pittsburgh's three-run second inning.

Game 6 — Yankees 12, Pirates 0: At Forbes Field, the Bronx Bombers live up to their billing with a 17-hit parade and another complete-game whitewashing by Ford.

Game 7 — Pirates 10, Yankees 9: At Forbes Field, in his third Series start, Law enjoys an early 4-0 lead but is pulled in the seventh with two on and the Yankees threatening 4-1. The lead changes hands several times in the final innings before Mazeroski breaks a 9-all tie in the bottom of the ninth with a historic solo home run.
