Ex-Utah Senator Reed Bullen dies
Prominent Logan businessman, former LDS temple president
A Republican, he served six terms in the Utah Senate, from 1955 to 1976, serving in prominent leadership positions, including whip, majority leader and Senate president. Bullen also served three terms as chairman of the legislative Higher Education Committee.
Mr. Bullen, a prominent Logan businessman, was a pioneer of the radio and broadcast industry in Cache Valley, bringing KVNU to the radio dial in 1938 and North Utah Community TV, a cable network, to the valley in 1971. In 1985, he was inducted into the Utah Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
A former bishop, stake president and patriarch, Mr. Bullen also served a president of the Logan Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, from 1978-84. He was born in Logan on Nov. 17, 1906, and graduated from the Utah State Agricultural College in 1929 with a business degree. Mr. Bullen also served on USU's board of trustees.
He married Kathryn Bowen in 1939 and they had five children.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, in the Lundstrom Park 3rd Ward chapel, 1260 N. 1600 East in Logan. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.allenmortuaries. net.
