"It depends on who may be matched up against me. And maybe some people feel that two terms (which he'll already have served) is enough, too," Anderson said.

"I hope that if I don't run, we make sure that the next mayor helps sustain the immense progress that we've made in this city."

Finally, to put in perspective what kind of public sentiment the anti-Bush protesters were up against, Jones asked Utahns how Bush is doing as president.

Jones polled through Thursday night, just as the president was being severely criticized nationally over how aid is getting to survivors of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and other Gulf areas.

But Utahns' support of Bush doesn't seem to have been affected by the hurricane's aftermath, at least through Thursday. Jones found that 70 percent approve of the job Bush is doing as president (about where he was in a springtime survey) while only 28 percent disapprove of the president's policies and actions.
