What is commuter rail?

Commuter rail is "long-haul rail passenger service operating between metropolitan and suburban areas," according to the American Public Transportation Association.

When will commuter rail be built in Utah?

The first phase is anticipated to be finished by early 2008, extending 44 miles from Salt Lake City to Pleasant View in Weber County. An extension into Utah County is slated to begin operation by 2015. Final extensions will be built by 2030, completing a 120-mile system from Brigham City to Payson.

Who will ride it?

At least 5,900 passengers each weekday are expected to ride commuter rail's first phase.
