A partnership among two auto dealers has resulted in a new company, Legacy Auto Group, that will take effect on all Allen Patch dealerships Monday.

Allen Patch, owner of Allen Patch Ford/Mazda and Allen Patch Mitsubishi/Suzuki, recently partnered with Kirk Bengtzen, a Utah native and long-time auto dealer.

Patch said he was motivated to do the merger because of his interest in no longer wanting to be involved in his dealerships' day-to-day operations and his interest in real estate. Bengtzen said Patch will be involved in the real estate portion of the company.

Legacy Auto Group's first venture will be a new Mazda dealership on University Parkway in Orem, slated to finish in December. It will be followed by a 6,000-square-foot Legacy Used building to service Legacy's secondary finance customers.

With Bengtzen as president, Legacy Auto Group will encompass Blackridge Subaru Mitsubishi in St. George, Legacy Ford in Orem, Legacy Mazda in Orem and Legacy Mitsubishi Suzuki in Logan.
