The J. Willard Marriott Library (University of Utah) has launched the Utah Artists Project, a Web site resource featuring Utah artists and their artwork. The Web site — www.lib.utah.edu/fa/UtahArtists — serves as an educational resource for studying Utah art by improving access to artist information while promoting Utah's most prominent visual artists.

To date, the Web site hosts 70 artists and more than 500 art images. Each artist file includes images of work, Marriott Library clippings and ephemera files, artist biographies and a bibliography of published references on the artist.

The Web site is a work-in-progress with more artists coming online each day. The core list of approximately 300 artists was compiled from lists generated by the Springville Museum of Art, the Bountiful/Davis Art Center, Robert Olpin's telecourse, "Art Life of Utah," and the Salt Lake County Fine Arts Program.

For more information, call the Dumke Fine Arts and Architecture Library at the Marriott Library at 581-8104.
