When Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr.'s son, Will, leaves for Boy Scout camp Friday, he'll take with him some advice from his father in the wake of the saga surrounding Brennan Hawkins.

"Stay with the group," is what Huntsman said he told his 12-year-old son, who'll be attending a different camp than Hawkins. Hawkins, 11, was found Tuesday, nearly four days after he disappeared from a camp in the Uinta Mountains.

The governor said his son, who is one project away from attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, followed the search for Hawkins closely. So, of course, did Huntsman himself. He said he met with the family shortly after they were reunited.

"I went and visited with them an hour or so after they got back from the mountains," the governor said. "It was unbelievable, walking into that hospital room and talking with the parents." He described the couple as "sweet."

Brennan, though, had little to say to the state's chief executive. "He's kind of quiet, and he was really transfixed on the television because they were showing live pictures of his home. He couldn't believe what he was seeing."

Huntsman, who discussed the Hawkins rescue with reporters Thursday after taping his monthly press conference televised on KUED Channel 7, said the attention was no doubt overwhelming for the young boy.

"What a story," he said.
