"Climate has a way of averaging itself out. We could end up with three dry months. We just don't know. What we can say for sure is that there shouldn't be anyone that should need to turn on their sprinklers yet," Van Cor said. To reach Utah's average 17.42 inches of water-year rainfall for the year, the state needs a little more than 4 inches by October.

There is one category staying somewhat normal this year: "Temperatures for the spring were just a tiny bit (.2 degree) below average. Nothing very unusual," Eubank said.

According to his short-term forecast, Eubank predicts temperatures to be in the low 70s all weekend, with sunshine on Friday, clouds on Saturday and possibly rain on Sunday. For those looking for more summerlike weather, afternoon temperatures should be in the high 70s with clear skies next week.
