24 entrepreneurs are award finalists

Two dozen finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Awards in Utah were announced Tuesday.

The finalists were selected from 49 nominations by a panel of independent judges comprised of area leaders from business, academic and civic organizations. Award recipients will be announced at a June 30 banquet at the Salt Palace Grand Ballroom.

Finalists are:

  • J. Brent Wood, Aero Technologies Group.

  • Anne G. Osborn, Dr. H. Ric Harnsberger and Paul F. Scholtes, Amirsys.

  • Peter Valcarce, Arena Communications.

  • Patricia Stanley and Steve Stanley, Cafe Rio.

  • Kevin R. Duncan, Case Data Corp.

  • Christofer Shurian, Classic Construction Services Inc.

  • Nancy Hill, DCWV.

  • Michael D. Proper, DirectPointe Inc.

  • Ragula Bhaskar, FatPipe Networks.

  • Bruno Vassel III, Iboats Inc.

  • Henry Smith, Ikano Communications.

  • Bill Anderson, J.M. Thomas Forest Products Co.

  • Joe Wang, LanDesk Software.

  • Gene Kwon, Latitude Restaurant Group.

  • Brad Walters, Maxstream Inc.

  • Ethan Willis and Randy Garn, Prosper Inc.

  • Richard Spillman, Taft Barrington and Clinton Goldsberry, Spillman Technologies.

  • Todd Shepherd, David Allen, Jeff Smith and Andy Dischmann, Studio Interactive.

Utah winners will be eligible for the national Entrepreneur of the Year program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the overall national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year, will be announced in November at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif.
