Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. spelled out goals for Utah tourism this week at the fourth annual Rural Business Conference in Price.

Huntsman said he wants to increase the number of tourists to Utah by 5 million visitors a year, which could generate an additional $1.4 billion for the state. Utah now gets about 17 million visitors annually.

An $18 million appropriation approved this year will be used to market Utah to out-of-staters.

The annual conference, at the College of Eastern Utah, was hosted by U.S. Sen. Bob Bennett, R-Utah, and the Utah Rural Development Council.
