Resorts hit it big this ski season

Tom Smart, our snowboarding/skiing photographer here at the Deseret Morning News, used a day off to take his wife, Heidi, skiing after the big storm last week.

To his misfortune, he chose his board (snowboard) over his boards (skis).

So deep and fluffy was the snow, he explained, his snowboard kept diving. To fix the problem, he explained, "with cold hands and limited tools, I moved my bindings back "

The problem, explained Heidi, was that it took an hour . . . "An hour where we could have been skiing the powder,"

There have not been many years where skiers can find light, fluffy, Utah powder on the last days of March . . . but this year it happened.

All in all, if there were such a thing as a perfect ski season, I'd have to say 2004-2005 was just about as close as it gets.
