Taylorsville mayor won't run again

TAYLORSVILLE — Mayor Janice Auger announced Thursday she will not run for re-election this November.

Auger is currently serving the fourth year of her second term as mayor of the city. Before becoming mayor, Auger served for two years as a member of the first Taylorsville City Council.

Auger said she intends to spend more time with her family after she leaves office.

"I did what I came to do. I will hang up my mayor's hat and put on my grandma's hat," Auger said in a news release. "It is time for someone in our community to bring his or her ideas to the table."
