OREM — U.S. Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah, will discuss Social Security ethics during his first speaking visit to Utah Valley State College on Monday at 2 p.m. in the Sorensen Student Center's Centre Stage.

Matheson will address the ethical issues surrounding President Bush's proposed Social Security plan and other competing plans as part of the 2004-05 Government Ethics Lecture Series sponsored by the UVSC Center for the Study of Ethics.

In January, Matheson began his third term representing Utah's 2nd Second Congressional District, which includes the northeast area of Utah County. He serves on three committees including the House Financial Services Committee, the House Transportation Committee and the House Science Committee.

The lecture is free and open to the public and will conclude with a question and answer session.
